Upgrading a Broker Associate License
To upgrade to the independent broker level, a sales licensee must have two years of licensure experience and submit the appropriate change-of-status application online. To upgrade to the employing broker level, a sales licensee must have the two years of experience, complete the Broker Administration Course, and submit the change-of-status application online, which requires proof of experience.
Licensees prior to January 1, 1997
Anyone holding a broker’s license prior to January 1, 1997, is automatically qualified to operate at the independent and employing broker levels. Anyone holding a “sales license” may upgrade to the associate broker level by completing the 24-hour Colorado Broker Transition Course or by passing the state portion of the broker’s examination.
