Broker’s license prior to January 1, 1997
Anyone holding a broker’s license prior to January 1, 1997, is automatically qualified to operate at the independent and employing broker levels. Anyone holding a “sales licensure” may upgrade to the associate broker level by completing the 24-hour Colorado Broker Transition Course or by passing the state portion of the broker’s examination. To upgrade to the independent broker level, a sales licensee must have the two years of licensure experience, must pass the state portion of the broker’s exam, and must submit the appropriate change-of-status application. To upgrade to the employing broker level, a sales licensee must have the two years of experience, must pass the state portion of the broker’s exam, and must complete the Broker Administration Course, and must submit the change-of-status application.
